Serhiy Shaptala

Serhiy Shaptala, born on February fifth, nineteen seventy-three, is a distinguished Ukrainian military officer who rose to prominence as the Chief of the General Staff from twenty twenty-one to twenty twenty-four, achieving the rank of Lieutenant General.

His military career is marked by notable achievements, including being awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine in two thousand fifteen by President Petro Poroshenko. This honor was bestowed upon him for his exemplary leadership of the 128th Brigade during the intense Battle of Debaltseve.

In the face of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine in two thousand twenty-two, Shaptala played a crucial role in the defense efforts. He reported significant successes, including the downing of a Russian Il-76 by Ukrainian air defenses and shared compelling video evidence of a Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 successfully striking Russian military targets.
