Sertab Erener

Sertab Erener, born on December fourth, nineteen sixty-four, is a celebrated Turkish singer, songwriter, and composer known for her remarkable coloratura soprano voice. She began her career as a backing vocalist for the iconic Sezen Aksu, who played a pivotal role in her rise to fame. With Aksu's support, Sertab released her debut studio album, Sakin Ol!, in nineteen ninety-two, marking the beginning of her journey in the Turkish pop music scene.

Throughout the 1990s, Sertab solidified her status as a pop music artist with a series of successful albums, including Lâ'l in nineteen ninety-four, Sertab Gibi in nineteen ninety-seven, and her self-titled album in nineteen ninety-nine. Many of her songs, such as 'Sakin Ol!', 'Aldırma Deli Gönlüm', and 'Yanarım', topped the charts in Turkey, showcasing her ability to blend Western and Eastern musical elements.

In two thousand three, Sertab achieved international acclaim by winning the Eurovision Song Contest with her hit 'Everyway That I Can', a historic moment for Turkey. Following this success, she released several albums, including No Boundaries in two thousand four and Aşk Ölmez in two thousand five. After a five-year hiatus, she returned to the music scene with Rengârenk in two thousand ten, featuring popular tracks like 'Bu Böyle' and 'Açık Adres'.

Her dedication to music has earned her numerous accolades, including seven Kral TV Video Music Awards and two Golden Butterfly Awards. In two thousand fourteen, she was recognized as one of the '91 Symbols of the 91st Anniversary of the Republic' by Hürriyet. Beyond her singing career, Sertab also shared her passion for music by teaching at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center for a year. With three marriages, including one to fellow musician Levent Yüksel, Sertab continues to be a prominent figure in the Turkish music industry.
