Seydou Doumbia, born on December 31, 1987, is a former professional footballer from Ivory Coast, renowned for his prowess as a forward. His career began in his home country and Japan before he made the leap to Europe in 2008, joining the Swiss club Young Boys. Doumbia quickly made a name for himself, becoming the top scorer and earning the title of player of the year in the Swiss Super League during both of his seasons there.

In 2010, Doumbia transferred to CSKA Moscow for a reported fee of fifteen million euros. His time in Russia was marked by significant success, as he clinched six domestic honors and was recognized as the top scorer in the Russian Premier League on two occasions. In 2015, he moved to AS Roma, although much of his time there was spent on loan, including a notable stint at Basel during the 2016–17 season, where he once again showcased his scoring ability, winning the league and the Swiss Cup while finishing as the top scorer for the third time.

On the international stage, Doumbia made his debut for the Ivory Coast in 2008. He represented his country in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and participated in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012 and 2015, where he played a crucial role in helping the team secure victory in the latter tournament.
