Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Shabana Mahmood

Shabana Mahmood, born on September seventeenth, nineteen eighty, is a prominent British politician and barrister, currently serving as Home Secretary since two thousand twenty-five. A member of the Labour Party, she has represented Birmingham Ladywood as a Member of Parliament since two thousand ten, making significant strides in her political career.

Mahmood graduated with a degree in law from Lincoln College, Oxford, in two thousand two and completed the Bar Vocational Course at the Inns of Court School of Law in two thousand three. As a barrister, she specializes in professional indemnity. Her selection as the Labour Party candidate for Birmingham Ladywood in the two thousand ten general election was met with some dissent, but an inquiry confirmed the legitimacy of her candidacy.

As one of the first female Muslim MPs, alongside Rushanara Ali and Yasmin Qureshi, Mahmood has held various shadow frontbench positions, including Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury from two thousand thirteen to two thousand fifteen. After the two thousand fifteen general election, she was appointed Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury but resigned following Jeremy Corbyn's election as Labour leader, opting not to join his shadow cabinet.

Returning to the shadow cabinet in May two thousand twenty-one under Keir Starmer, Mahmood served as National Campaign Coordinator. Following Labour's victory in the two thousand twenty-four general election, she was appointed Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, where she implemented an early release scheme for prisoners to alleviate overcrowding. In the subsequent cabinet reshuffle of two thousand twenty-five, she was promoted to Home Secretary, where she has made significant changes to immigration policies and political protest regulations.
