Shahrokh Shah

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Shahrokh Shah

Shahrokh Shah, born on March twenty-first, seventeen thirty-four, was a prominent sovereign who ruled the western part of Khorasan from seventeen forty-eight to seventeen ninety-six, with a brief interruption. He was a grandson of the renowned Iranian conqueror Nader Shah, who reigned from seventeen thirty-six to seventeen forty-seven, and the son of Reza Qoli Mirza Afshar and his Safavid wife, Fatemeh Soltan Begom, sister of the last Safavid shah, Tahmasp II.

Shahrokh's unique lineage, being half-Safavid, distinguished him among his Afsharid relatives and was leveraged to enhance the legitimacy of his grandfather's legacy. Following the assassination of Nader Shah in seventeen forty-seven, his nephew, Ali-qoli Khan, who took the name Adel Shah, ascended to the throne in Mashhad. In a brutal turn of events, he ordered the massacre of Nader Shah's descendants, but Shahrokh was spared due to the potential value of his Safavid heritage, remaining imprisoned in the fortress of Kalat.

During a power struggle between Adel Shah and his rebellious brother Ebrahim Mirza, a coalition of tribal leaders seized the opportunity to install Shahrokh as the ruler. However, his reign was short-lived as he was soon overthrown by dissident tribal factions who placed the Safavid pretender Mir Sayyed Mohammad, later known as Suleiman II, on the throne. Despite Suleiman II's reluctance, Shahrokh was blinded through the machinations of Mir Alam Khan Khuzayma and other nobles.

In a dramatic twist, a group of conspirators led by the Turco-Mongol tribal leader Yusuf Ali Khan Jalayir managed to depose Suleiman II, ultimately restoring Shahrokh to the throne. His tumultuous journey through the treacherous landscape of Iranian politics highlights the complexities of power, lineage, and survival in a time of great upheaval.
