Shane Kimbrough

Shane Kimbrough, born on June fourth, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished retired United States Army officer and NASA astronaut. His journey into the cosmos began when he was selected as part of the first group of candidates for NASA astronaut training following the tragic Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. This pivotal moment marked the start of a remarkable career dedicated to space exploration.

Kimbrough is a veteran of three significant spaceflights. His inaugural mission was aboard a Space Shuttle, which paved the way for his subsequent six-month expedition to the International Space Station (ISS) on a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. His extensive experience in space culminated in his role as the commander of the ISS during Expedition 50, where he led a team of astronauts in advancing scientific research and international collaboration in space.

After an impactful tenure in space, Kimbrough returned to Earth in April twenty seventeen, bringing with him invaluable insights and experiences from his time in orbit.
