As an all-rounder, Watson showcased his skills as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler.

Watson's remarkable talent was recognized globally, as he held the title of the world's No. 1 all-rounder in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) for an impressive one hundred fifty weeks. Notably, he achieved an all-time record of one hundred twenty consecutive weeks at the top from October thirteenth, two thousand eleven, to January thirtieth, two thousand fourteen. He was a key player during Australia's golden era in the early two thousands and was the last to retire from that illustrious period.
