Shapur II

Shapur II, born in three hundred and nine, ascended to the throne of the Sasanian Empire at birth, marking the beginning of an extraordinary reign that would last until his death at the age of seventy. His tenure is noted as the longest in Sasanian history, a testament to his enduring legacy and the strength of his rule.

During his reign, Shapur II oversaw a remarkable military resurgence, expanding the empire's territory and ushering in the first golden era of the Sasanian dynasty. He is celebrated alongside other illustrious kings such as Shapur I, Kavad I, and Khosrow I for his significant contributions to the empire's strength and stability.

At the young age of sixteen, Shapur II launched successful military campaigns against Arab insurrections and tribes, showcasing his prowess as a military leader. However, his reign was also marked by a stringent religious policy, which included the completion of the Avesta, the sacred texts of Zoroastrianism.
