Sharad Pawar

Sharad Pawar, born on December twelfth, nineteen forty, in Baramati, Maharashtra, is a prominent Indian politician known for his extensive career in public service. He has represented the Nationalist Congress Party in the Rajya Sabha since two thousand fourteen and has held the esteemed position of Chief Minister of Maharashtra for three terms. His political journey has seen him occupy significant roles in the Union Council of Ministers, including Minister of Defence under P. V. Narasimha Rao and Minister of Agriculture under Manmohan Singh.

In nineteen ninety-nine, Pawar founded the original Nationalist Congress Party. However, following a split in July two thousand twenty-three, he now leads the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction, having distanced himself from the Indian National Congress. His political acumen has allowed him to navigate various coalition governments and alliances within Maharashtra, solidifying his influence in the region.

Beyond politics, Pawar has made notable contributions to sports administration. He served as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India from two thousand five to two thousand eight and held the presidency of the International Cricket Council from two thousand ten to two thousand twelve. Additionally, he led the Mumbai Cricket Association from October two thousand thirteen to January two thousand seventeen.

As the patriarch of the Pawar family, Sharad Pawar is surrounded by a lineage of political figures, including his daughter Supriya Sule, nephew Ajit Pawar, and grandnephew Rohit Rajendra Pawar.
