Sharice Davids

Sharice Davids, born on May 22, 1980, is a prominent American politician, attorney, and former mixed martial artist. Since 2019, she has served as the U.S. representative for Kansas's 3rd congressional district, which encompasses a significant portion of the Kansas City metropolitan area, including cities such as Kansas City, Overland Park, and Olathe.

A member of the Democratic Party, Davids made history in 2018 by becoming the first Democrat to represent a Kansas congressional district in a decade. Her election marked a significant milestone as she is the first openly LGBT Native American elected to the United States Congress and the first openly LGBT person from Kansas to achieve this honor. Alongside Deb Haaland, she is one of the first two Native American women to serve in Congress.

Davids holds the distinction of being the second Native American to represent Kansas in Congress, following Charles Curtis, who served as vice president under Herbert Hoover. Currently, she stands as the only Democrat in Kansas' predominantly Republican congressional delegation, highlighting her unique position in the state's political landscape.

In addition to her political career, Davids is an accomplished attorney, having received her education from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and Cornell Law School. Her diverse background also includes a stint as a professional mixed martial artist during the 2010s, showcasing her multifaceted talents and dedication to public service.
