Sharon Cherop

Sharon Cherop, born on March 16, 1984, is a distinguished Kenyan long-distance runner renowned for her exceptional talent in marathon events. Her athletic journey began at a young age, where she showcased her potential by winning a bronze medal in the 5000 metres at the World Junior Championships at just sixteen years old.

After a period of development, Cherop burst onto the senior scene in 2010, marking her marathon debut at the Twin Cities Marathon, where she secured a commendable third place. That same year, she achieved her first marathon victories, triumphing at both the Hamburg Marathon and the Toronto Waterfront Marathon, where she set a remarkable time of two hours, twenty-two minutes, and forty-two seconds, establishing the fastest marathon time on Canadian soil.

Her prowess continued to shine as she earned a bronze medal in the marathon at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.
