Shayne Ward

Shayne Ward, born on October 16, 1984, is a talented English singer and actor who gained widespread recognition as the winner of the second series of The X Factor. His remarkable journey began with the release of his debut single, "That's My Goal," on December 21, 2005. This track not only topped the UK singles chart but also became the Christmas number one, selling three hundred thirteen thousand copies on its first day, making it the third-fastest-selling single in UK history.

As the first X Factor winner to release an original song as his winner's single, Ward secured a recording contract with Simon Cowell's Syco record label, co-owned by Sony Music. His self-titled debut album, released in April 2006, debuted at number one on both the Irish and UK Albums Charts, achieving four times Platinum status in Ireland and Platinum in the UK. The album featured hit singles such as "No Promises" and "Stand by Me," further solidifying his place in the music industry.

In November 2007, Ward released his follow-up album, Breathless, which included top ten hits like "If That's OK with You" and "No U Hang Up," and topped the Irish charts, earning five times Platinum certification. However, after a three-year hiatus, his third album, Obsession, released in November 2010, did not perform as well, with first-week sales falling below twenty-three thousand copies.

In 2011, Ward parted ways with Syco, but he made a comeback in 2015 with the independent album Closer, funded through PledgeMusic. That same year, he began portraying Aidan Connor in the popular TV series Coronation Street, a role he held until August 2018, with a voiceover appearance on October 22, 2021. In 2023, he took on a new role in The Good Ship Murder, showcasing his versatility as an entertainer.
