Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, born on January 25, 1979, is a prominent American politician and businesswoman currently serving as the U.S. representative for Florida's 20th congressional district. Elected in 2022, she represents a diverse constituency that includes many Black-majority areas in and around Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Cherfilus-McCormick is a dedicated member of the Democratic Party, having won a special election to fill the seat left vacant by the late Alcee Hastings.

An investigation by the House Ethics Committee revealed that she was guilty of twenty-five out of twenty-seven charges, casting a shadow over her political career.
