Sheila Dikshit, born on March thirty-first, nineteen thirty-eight, was a prominent Indian politician who made history as the longest-serving chief minister of Delhi. Her tenure spanned fifteen years, beginning in nineteen ninety-eight, during which she led the Indian National Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in the capital.

Despite her significant achievements, Dikshit faced challenges in the political arena. In December two thousand thirteen, she lost the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections to the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the Aam Aadmi Party formed a minority government with support from the Indian National Congress, appointing Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister.

In two thousand fourteen, she briefly served as the Governor of Kerala, showcasing her versatility in leadership roles. Later, she was named the chief ministerial candidate for the Indian National Congress in the two thousand seventeen Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly election but ultimately withdrew her nomination in favor of Akhilesh Yadav.

In January two thousand nineteen, Dikshit was appointed president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, tasked with leading the party in the general elections in Delhi. She held this position until her passing on July twentieth, two thousand nineteen, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the people of Delhi.
