Shona Thorburn, born on August seventh, nineteen eighty-two, is a distinguished Canadian basketball player and coach, known for her tenure as a point guard with the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. A native of Hamilton, Ontario, she honed her skills at Westdale Secondary School before advancing to the collegiate level at the University of Utah, where she graduated in two thousand six.
In two thousand six, Thorburn was selected as the seventh overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx. Despite the high expectations, her rookie season was challenging, as she spent most of her time on the bench, averaging a modest zero point eight points, zero point nine assists, and six point six minutes over twenty-one games. On May fourteenth, two thousand seven, her journey with the Lynx came to an end when she was released.
Shortly after her departure from Minnesota, Thorburn signed a seven-day contract with the Seattle Storm in July two thousand seven. However, her time with the Storm was brief, as she was released once the contract term expired. Despite these challenges, Thorburn's passion for the game has led her to transition into coaching, where she continues to inspire the next generation of basketball players.
