Sidhu Moose Wala

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known to the world as Sidhu Moose Wala, was born on June 11, 1993, in Moosa, Punjab. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Punjabi music scene, captivating audiences with his unique blend of singing, rapping, and lyricism. Moose Wala's career took off in 2016 when he began as a songwriter, and by 2017, he had established himself as a lead artist with the duet 'G Wagon' alongside Gurlez Akhtar. His rise to fame was marked by the release of his debut album, 'PBX 1', in 2018, which made waves on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.

Moose Wala's influence in the music industry was undeniable, as he became one of the most successful Punjabi rappers of his time. His track 'So High' propelled him into mainstream popularity, and he was recognized by The Guardian in 2020 as one of the fifty up-and-coming artists. His collaborations with Brown Boyz and other artists led to numerous hits, with songs like 'Bambiha Bole' ranking among the top five on the Global YouTube music chart.

In addition to his musical achievements, Moose Wala ventured into politics by joining the Indian National Congress in 2021, where he contested the Punjab Legislative Assembly election for Mansa. Despite his controversial lyrics that often promoted gun culture, he garnered a massive following and became a voice for many. Tragically, his life was cut short when he was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in an incident linked to gang rivalry.

Following his untimely death, Moose Wala's legacy continued to thrive, with the release of his first posthumous single 'SYL' in June 2022. His impact on the Punjabi music landscape remains significant, as he holds the record for the most number-one singles on the Billboard India Songs chart and was the first Indian artist to achieve over one billion streams on Spotify.
