Sidney Crosby, born on August 7, 1987, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is a celebrated Canadian professional ice hockey player who serves as the centre and captain for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Known affectionately as 'Sid the Kid' and hailed as 'The Next One', Crosby was the first overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, marking the beginning of a remarkable career that has solidified his status as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

During his impressive two-year tenure with the Rimouski Océanic in major junior hockey, Crosby garnered numerous accolades and led his team to the 2005 Memorial Cup final. His impact on the league was so profound that in 2019, both the Océanic and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League retired his jersey number 87, and the QMJHL introduced the 'Sidney Crosby Trophy' for Rookie of the Year in 2025.
