The daughter of television executive Pat Weaver and actress Elizabeth Inglis, she made her film debut in the romantic comedy Annie Hall (1977) before achieving fame as Ellen Ripley in the iconic science fiction horror film Alien (1979). Weaver's portrayal of Ripley in the Alien franchise, including the acclaimed sequel Aliens (1986), earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, solidifying her status in film history.
