Simon Després, born on July twenty-seventh, nineteen ninety-one, is a talented Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently showcasing his skills with the Fife Flyers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). His journey in the world of ice hockey began when he was drafted in the first round, thirtieth overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the two thousand nine NHL Entry Draft.
Throughout his career, Després has also played for the Anaheim Ducks, where he faced significant challenges. In two thousand fifteen, he suffered a severe concussion that had lasting effects, leading to recurring symptoms that hindered his ability to compete. This unfortunate incident forced him to miss nearly all subsequent games with the Ducks, ultimately resulting in the team buying out his contract out of concern for his health.
After his time with the Ducks, Després sought to revitalize his career by signing with HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League. His determination to return to the NHL saw him join the Montreal Canadiens, who assigned him to their AHL affiliate, the Rocket, in hopes of making a comeback.
