Simon van Velthooven

Simon van Velthooven, born on December eighth, nineteen eighty-eight, is a distinguished retired New Zealand track racing cyclist and a celebrated sailor. He made history by winning New Zealand's first sprint cycling medal in the men's keirin at the 2012 Summer Olympics, showcasing his exceptional talent on the global stage.

Throughout his career, Simon has amassed an impressive collection of accolades, including multiple medals at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Notably, he clinched the title of World Cup champion in both the one-kilometer time trial and keirin events in 2012. His prowess continued to shine in 2014 when he secured a silver medal in the one thousand meter time trial at the Commonwealth Games.

In 2015, Simon transitioned to sailing, joining Team New Zealand as one of the original
