Sławomir Szmal

Sławomir Szmal, born on October 2, 1978, is a distinguished former Polish handball player who made significant contributions to the sport. He represented the Poland men's national handball team and showcased his talent on the international stage, notably participating in the Olympic Games held in Beijing in 2008.

Throughout his career, Szmal achieved remarkable success, earning a silver medal at the World Championship in 2007, along with bronze medals in 2009 and 2015. His exceptional skills and dedication to the game led to his recognition as the IHF World Player of the Year in 2009, a testament to his impact on handball.

After retiring from professional play, Szmal transitioned into leadership roles within the sport. He currently serves as the president of the Polish Handball Association, where he continues to influence the development of handball in Poland.
