Soad Hosny, born on January 26, 1943, in the Boulaq district of Cairo, was an iconic Egyptian actress and singer, celebrated as the 'Cinderella of the Screen.' Coming from an artistic family, her father, Mohamed Hosni, was a renowned calligrapher, and she was the sister of the famous singer Nagat El-Sagheera. Soad's early exposure to the arts began with her work in Egyptian Radio as a child, where she collaborated with Baba Sharo, eventually leading her to the film industry through the guidance of Abdel Rahman El Khamisi.

Her film career took off with her debut in 'Hassan and Naima' in nineteen fifty-nine, and she quickly became a leading figure in Egyptian cinema. Over the span of her illustrious career, which lasted until nineteen ninety-one, Soad starred in more than eighty-three films, many of which are considered classics in the history of Egyptian cinema. Notably, nine of her films are included in the list of the greatest one hundred films of Egyptian cinema.

The majority of her work was produced during the vibrant decades of the sixties and seventies, with standout films such as 'Money and Women' (nineteen sixty), 'A Date at the Tower' (nineteen sixty-two), and 'Watch Out For Zouzou' (nineteen seventy-two), the latter earning her the affectionate nickname 'Zouzou.' Her final appearance on screen was in 'The Shepherd and the Women' in nineteen ninety-one, directed by her ex-husband, Ali Badrakhan.
