Sofia Jannok, born on September fifteenth, nineteen eighty-two, is a prominent Swedish Sámi artist known for her multifaceted talents as a singer, songwriter, and television presenter. Her music, which draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of genres including folk, pop, jazz, and yoik, primarily features lyrics in Northern Sámi, though she also composes in Swedish and English.
Beyond her musical endeavors, Jannok is a passionate advocate for Sámi rights, particularly in her opposition to mining activities that threaten the traditional lands of Sámi reindeer herders.
