Song Yu

Song Yu, born in the year two hundred ninety-eight before the Common Era, was a distinguished Chinese poet during the late Warring States period. His contributions to literature have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of ancient China.

He is traditionally recognized as the author of several poems within the esteemed collection known as the Verses of Chu (Chu ci). Among these, the poems found in the Jiu Bian section are particularly attributed to his creative genius, showcasing his unique style and thematic depth.

In addition to his work in the Verses of Chu, Song Yu is also credited with several fu, a form of ancient Chinese prose poetry. These works were later compiled in the sixth-century literary anthology Wen Xuan, further solidifying his legacy as a pivotal figure in Chinese poetry.
