Spike Dudley

Spike Dudley, born Matt Hyson on August 13, 1970, is an American semi-retired professional wrestler and teacher, renowned for his dynamic presence in the wrestling world. He first gained recognition in the 1990s with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), where he became a pivotal member of The Dudley Brothers faction. His character was known for its resilience and tenacity, particularly during a dramatic storyline where he faced betrayal from fellow members Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley, leading to a fierce feud.

As ECW transitioned into bankruptcy in 2001, Hyson made the leap to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), where he reunited with his kayfabe brothers. His tenure in WWF was marked by significant achievements, including two reigns as ECW World Tag Team Champion alongside Balls Mahoney, and later capturing the WWF Tag Team Championship with Tazz. In 2002, he also held the European Championship once and the Hardcore Championship an impressive eight times, showcasing his versatility and skill in the ring.

After his release from WWE in 2005, Hyson briefly ventured into the independent circuit before joining Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) under the ring name Brother Runt. He continued to collaborate with Ray and Devon, who had also joined TNA, and engaged in notable feuds, including one with Abyss. Following his departure from TNA in the summer of 2007, Hyson focused on training aspiring wrestlers while continuing to compete on the independent circuit until 2010, when he stepped back from full-time wrestling.

Hyson's final match took place in 2015, marking the end of an era for a wrestler who had left an indelible mark on the industry. His journey from the gritty arenas of ECW to the grand stages of WWE and TNA reflects a career filled with passion, resilience, and a commitment to the craft of professional wrestling.
