Sprent Dabwido

Sprent Dabwido, born on September sixteenth, nineteen seventy-two, is a notable figure in Nauru's political landscape and a former weightlifter. He began his political career by being elected to the Meneng Constituency in the Parliament of Nauru during the two thousand four elections, following in the footsteps of his father, a respected parliamentarian.

In two thousand nine, Dabwido took on the role of Minister for Telecommunications under the government of Marcus Stephen. His political journey took a significant turn in November two thousand eleven when he joined the opposition faction after Stephen's resignation. Just days later, he successfully led a motion of no confidence against interim president Freddie Pitcher, resulting in his election as president.

During his presidency from two thousand eleven to two thousand thirteen, Dabwido served as the chairman of the Cabinet of Nauru and held various portfolios within the government. His leadership was marked by a commitment to the development and governance of Nauru, reflecting his dedication to public service.
