Stamatios Nikolopoulos

Stamatios Nikolopoulos, a distinguished Greek racing cyclist, made his mark in the world of track cycling during the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896. His remarkable performances earned him two silver medals, showcasing his exceptional talent and competitive spirit.

Competing in both the 333 metres and the 2 kilometres races, Nikolopoulos faced tough competition, notably from French cyclist Paul Masson. In the 2 kilometres event, he clocked an impressive time of five minutes and point two seconds, securing a second-place finish.

In the shorter 333 metres race, Nikolopoulos tied with fellow competitor Adolf Schmal, both achieving a time of twenty-six seconds. However, in a subsequent race-off, he triumphed over Schmal, finishing with a time of twenty-five point four seconds to claim his second silver medal.
