Stefan Johansson

Stefan Johansson, born on September eighth, nineteen fifty-six, is a distinguished Swedish former racing driver and motorsport executive. His career in Formula One spanned from nineteen eighty to nineteen ninety-one, during which he showcased his talent and determination on some of the world's most prestigious racing circuits.

Johansson's journey began in Växjö, where he first made his mark in kart racing, clinching the Swedish Championship in nineteen seventy-three. His success in karting paved the way for multiple national titles in Formula Ford, leading him to the British Formula Three championship, which he won in nineteen eighty. That same year, he made his Formula One debut at the Argentine Grand Prix with Shadow, although he did not qualify for the races he entered.

After a series of impressive performances in European Formula Two and the World Sportscar Championship, Johansson returned to Formula One in nineteen eighty-three with Spirit. His career took a significant turn when he joined Ferrari in nineteen eighty-five, where he achieved his first podium finish in Canada and secured several more podiums, culminating in a career-best fifth place in the World Drivers' Championship in nineteen eighty-six.

Following his tenure at Ferrari, Johansson partnered with Alain Prost at McLaren, where he continued to impress with five podium finishes. His journey through Formula One included stints with Ligier, Onyx, AGS, and Footwork, ultimately leading to twelve podiums throughout his career. Beyond Formula One, Johansson's versatility shone through as he participated in fifteen editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning the prestigious race in nineteen ninety-seven alongside Michele Alboreto and Tom Kristensen.

In addition to his endurance racing success, Johansson competed in the IndyCar World Series from nineteen ninety-two to nineteen ninety-six and participated in both seasons of Grand Prix Masters, as well as the inaugural season of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
