Stein Rokkan

Stein Rokkan, born on July fourth, nineteen twenty-one, was a prominent Norwegian political scientist and sociologist whose contributions significantly shaped the field of social sciences in Norway.

As the first professor of sociology at the University of Bergen, Rokkan played a pivotal role in establishing the discipline of comparative politics. His vision led to the creation of a multidisciplinary Department of Sociology that integrated sociology, economics, and political science.
