Steny Hoyer

Steny Hoyer, born on June fourteenth, nineteen thirty-nine, is a prominent American politician and retired attorney who has dedicated his career to public service. Since nineteen eighty-one, he has represented Maryland's fifth congressional district, a region that encompasses a diverse mix of rural and suburban areas southeast of Washington, D.C.

Throughout his extensive tenure, Hoyer has held significant leadership roles within the House of Representatives. He served as the House Majority Leader twice, first from two thousand seven to two thousand eleven and again from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-three. Additionally, he was the House Minority Whip during two separate periods, from two thousand three to two thousand seven and from two thousand eleven to two thousand nineteen, working closely with Nancy Pelosi.

Hoyer's political journey began with his election in a special election in nineteen eighty-one, and he began his twenty-third term in two thousand twenty-five.
