Stéphane Moraille

Stéphane Moraille, born on August 13, 1970, is a multifaceted talent hailing from Haiti and currently based in Quebec. As a lawyer specializing in media law, she carries on the legacy of her grandmother, Me Georgette Justin, the first female lawyer in Haiti. Moraille was called to the Bar in two thousand one, marking the beginning of her legal career.

In addition to her legal pursuits, Moraille is a celebrated singer-songwriter. She embarked on her musical journey in nineteen ninety-three under the stage name Shauna Davis, releasing a series of dance and house music singles that gained traction on popular platforms like MuchMusic and MusiquePlus, as well as radio stations such as Energy one hundred eight and Hot one hundred three point five in Toronto.

Her breakthrough came in nineteen ninety-seven when she joined the Montreal band Bran Van 3000, contributing her vocals to the album Glee. As a core member of the group, she continued to lend her voice to their subsequent albums, including Discosis, Rosé, and The Garden, solidifying her place in the music scene.

In two thousand seventeen, Moraille released her first solo EP, Pi Wo, which served as a precursor to her album Daïva, launched on February twenty-third, two thousand eighteen. Her powerful voice has drawn comparisons to the legendary Aretha Franklin at her peak, showcasing her exceptional talent.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Moraille has also engaged in politics, standing as a candidate for the New Democratic Party in the federal riding of Bourassa during the by-election on November twenty-five, two thousand thirteen. She was appointed as an independent member of the board of directors of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec in June two thousand eighteen and later joined the executive committee of CCUNESCO and the board of directors of the Canada Council for the Arts in October two thousand twenty-two.
