Stephen Bosustow

Stephen Bosustow, born on November sixth, nineteen eleven, was a prominent Canadian-born American film producer, animator, and director. His career spanned from nineteen forty-three until his retirement in nineteen seventy-nine, during which he made significant contributions to the animation industry.

As one of the founders of United Productions of America (UPA), Bosustow played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of animated films. He produced nearly six hundred cartoon and live-action shorts, showcasing his versatility and creativity in the field.

Bosustow is perhaps best remembered for his work on the beloved Mr. Magoo and Gerald McBoing-Boing cartoons during the nineteen fifties. His exceptional talent earned him three Academy Awards for these productions, making him the only film producer in history to receive all Oscar nominations in a single category in nineteen fifty-six, which guaranteed him a winning Oscar. The film Magoo's Puddle Jumper ultimately took home the coveted award.
