Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert, born on May 13, 1964, in Washington, D.C., is a multifaceted American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and television host. Raised in a Catholic family in South Carolina, he initially pursued a career in dramatic acting. However, his passion shifted towards improvisational theater during his time at Northwestern University, where he crossed paths with Second City director Del Close.

Colbert's professional journey began as an understudy for Steve Carell at Second City Chicago, where he collaborated with notable comedians like Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris. Together, they created the sketch comedy series Exit 57. His early career also included performances on The Dana Carvey Show and writing for the sitcom Strangers with Candy, which further showcased his comedic talents.

Gaining widespread recognition as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Colbert transitioned to host his own show, The Colbert Report, in 2005. This satirical program parodied personality-driven political opinion shows, earning him acclaim and a significant following. His performance at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2006, where he appeared in character, solidified his status as a prominent figure in political satire.
