Stephen Fienberg

Stephen Fienberg, born on November twenty-seventh, nineteen forty-two, was a distinguished statistician and mathematician whose contributions to the field have left a lasting impact. He served as a professor emeritus at Carnegie Mellon University, where he held the prestigious title of Maurice Falk University Professor of Statistics and Social Science.

Throughout his career, Fienberg was deeply involved in academia, teaching and mentoring students in the Department of Statistics, the Machine Learning Department, Heinz College, and Cylab. His expertise and passion for statistics were evident in his commitment to education and research.

In addition to his teaching, Fienberg was a pioneering figure in the realm of academic publishing. He was the founding co-editor of the Annual Review of Statistics and Its Application, as well as the Journal of Privacy and Confidentiality, both of which have played crucial roles in advancing the discourse in statistics and data privacy.
