Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Stephen Lynch (politician)

Stephen Lynch, born on March thirty-first, nineteen fifty-five, is a prominent American politician, lawyer, and trade unionist. He has represented Massachusetts's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since two thousand one. A member of the Democratic Party, Lynch's district encompasses the southern fourth of Boston and its surrounding suburbs.

Raised in South Boston, Lynch is the son of an ironworker and began his career in the trade after completing high school. He undertook an apprenticeship and eventually joined his father's union, where he made history as the youngest president at the age of thirty while simultaneously attending the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in nineteen ninety-one.

In nineteen ninety-four, Lynch was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, where his dedication to South Boston led to his election to the Massachusetts Senate in nineteen ninety-five, succeeding state senator William Bulger in a special election. His political journey continued when he won a special election in two thousand one to represent the state's ninth district in the U.S. House, a position he has maintained through successive re-elections. Following a redistricting in two thousand thirteen, he now serves the 8th district.

In Congress, Lynch is an active member of the Financial Services and Oversight and Government Reform Committees. He also made a bid for the Democratic nomination in the two thousand thirteen special election for the U.S. Senate, though he was ultimately defeated by Ed Markey.
