Stephen Malkmus

Stephen Malkmus, born on May thirtieth, nineteen sixty-six, is an influential American musician renowned for his role as the primary songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist of the iconic indie rock band Pavement. The band, which began as a duo, eventually expanded into a quintet, captivating audiences with their unique sound and lyrical depth. Over the course of their career, Pavement released five studio albums before disbanding in nineteen ninety-nine.

Throughout and following his tenure with Pavement, Malkmus engaged in various side projects, most notably contributing his guitar talents to three albums with The Silver Jews. This collaboration showcased his versatility and commitment to the indie music scene.

After the dissolution of Pavement, Malkmus embarked on a successful solo career, primarily performing with his backing band, the Jicks.
