Stephen Roche

Stephen Roche, born on November 28, 1959, is an esteemed former professional road racing cyclist from Ireland. His illustrious career spanned thirteen years, during which he achieved remarkable success, peaking in 1987. That year, he became the second of only three male cyclists to secure the prestigious Triple Crown, winning the general classifications of the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, along with the World Road Race Championship. This extraordinary feat places him alongside legends Eddy Merckx and Tadej Pogačar.

Roche's ascent in the cycling world coincided with the rise of fellow Irish cyclist Sean Kelly, marking a golden era for Irish cycling.
