Meyer's remarkable success saw her become the bestselling author in the United States for both 2008 and 2009, with sales exceeding twenty-nine million books in 2008 and twenty-six point five million in 2009.

An avid reader from a young age, Meyer pursued her education at Brigham Young University, where she graduated with a degree in English literature in 1997.
