Sterling Hinds

Sterling Hinds, born on October thirty-first, nineteen sixty-one, in Toronto, Ontario, is a distinguished Canadian retired sprinter and professional football player. His athletic journey began in his youth, where he excelled in ice hockey, reaching the Junior B level. Hinds later attended the University of Washington on a football scholarship, where he made a name for himself as a tailback for the Washington Huskies. His most notable achievement during this time was contributing to the team's victory in the nineteen eighty-two Rose Bowl against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.

Hinds' sprinting career reached its pinnacle at the nineteen eighty-four Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he earned a bronze medal as part of the Canadian team in the 4 × 100 m relay. Alongside teammates Ben Johnson, Tony Sharpe, and Desai Williams, Hinds completed the race in a remarkable time of thirty-eight point seventy seconds, solidifying his place in Canadian sports history.

After his successful track career, Hinds transitioned to professional football, signing with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. He played in eight games during the nineteen eighty-four and nineteen eighty-five seasons, but a knee injury ultimately curtailed his football aspirations. Following his athletic career, Hinds pursued a new path in real estate, obtaining his realtor license and establishing himself in the industry.

Hinds comes from a family of athletes, with his brothers Doug and Jerry also representing Canada in track events. His younger brother Stuart has also made his mark as a national finalist, showcasing the family's strong athletic legacy.
