Steve Fraser

Steve Fraser, born on March 23, 1958, in Hazel Park, Michigan, is a distinguished American Greco-Roman wrestler and coach. He made history at the 1984 Olympic Games by winning the gold medal in the 90 kg weight class, marking the first Olympic gold for the United States in Greco-Roman wrestling. This remarkable achievement not only highlighted his exceptional talent but also set a precedent for future American wrestlers.

Fraser's journey in wrestling began at a young age, where he became a state champion in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). He continued to excel in the sport at the collegiate level, earning the title of a two-time All-American while competing for the University of Michigan. His dedication and skill contributed to the United States winning a total of nine gold medals in wrestling during the 1984 Olympics, the highest number achieved in a single Olympic event in American wrestling history.
