In nineteen seventy, Howe joined the progressive rock band Yes, where his unique blend of acoustic and electric guitar became instrumental in shaping the band's sound and direction. His contributions led to significant commercial and critical acclaim, with many of Yes's most iconic songs co-written by him. After an initial tenure with the band that lasted until their dissolution in nineteen eighty-one, Howe returned for a brief period from nineteen ninety to nineteen ninety-two, before rejoining permanently in nineteen ninety-five, making him the longest-serving active member of Yes.
