Steve Israel

Steve Israel, born on May thirtieth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a prominent American political commentator, lobbyist, author, and former politician. He represented New York in the U.S. House of Representatives from two thousand one until two thousand seventeen, serving first in New York's second congressional district and later in the third. His tenure in Congress saw him representing diverse areas, including parts of northern Nassau County, Suffolk County on Long Island, and a small section of Queens in New York City.

A dedicated member of the Democratic Party, Israel held significant leadership roles during his time in Congress. He chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen and later led the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee from two thousand fifteen until his retirement in two thousand seventeen.

Before his congressional career, Israel was an active member of the Huntington Town Board, beginning in nineteen ninety-three. After leaving Congress, he transitioned to a role as a political commentator for CNN, where he shares his insights on current political events. In two thousand nineteen, he was appointed the inaugural director of the Institute of Politics and Global Affairs at Cornell University, further solidifying his influence in political discourse.
