Steve Lukather

Steve Lukather, born on October twenty-first, nineteen fifty-seven, is an iconic American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the sole continuous founding member of the legendary rock band Toto. His exceptional skills on the guitar have made him a sought-after session musician since the nineteen seventies, contributing to over one thousand five hundred albums across a diverse range of artists and musical genres.

Throughout his illustrious career, Lukather has played a pivotal role in the music industry, not only as a performer but also as a songwriter and arranger. His notable contributions include guitar work on Boz Scaggs's albums, such as Down Two Then Left in nineteen seventy-seven and Middle Man in nineteen eighty. He was also a significant contributor to Michael Jackson's groundbreaking album, Thriller, released in nineteen eighty-two.

In addition to his work with Toto, Lukather has released nine solo albums, with his latest, Bridges, debuting in June twenty twenty-three. His musical journey was inspired by George Harrison, and he draws influence from blues-rock legends like Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page, as well as jazz fusion icons such as Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin. Known for his melodic and intense playing style, Lukather has earned a reputation for his efficiency in the studio, often recording tracks in a single take with minimal sound processing.

While he once embraced a variety of guitar effects, Lukather now advocates for cleaner tones and simpler studio techniques. He primarily plays a signature electric guitar from Ernie Ball Music Man, affectionately named 'Luke,' and also enjoys using Yamaha and Ovation Adamas series acoustic-electric guitars.
