Steve Sisolak

Stephen F. Sisolak, born on December 26, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is a prominent American businessman and politician. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and later from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Business School, laying a strong educational foundation for his future endeavors.

His political career began with his election to the Nevada Board of Regents, where he served from nineteen ninety-nine to two thousand eight. Following this, Sisolak was elected to the Clark County Commission in two thousand eight, where he was reelected in two thousand twelve and two thousand sixteen. He held the positions of vice chair from two thousand eleven to two thousand thirteen and chair from two thousand thirteen to two thousand nineteen.

In two thousand eighteen, Sisolak made a significant leap in his political journey by running for governor of Nevada. He secured the Democratic nomination by defeating fellow commissioner Chris Giunchigliani and went on to win the general election against Republican nominee Adam Laxalt. This victory marked him as the first Democrat to hold the governorship since Bob Miller's tenure ended in nineteen ninety-nine.

Sisolak served as the 30th governor of Nevada from two thousand nineteen until two thousand twenty-three. In two thousand twenty-two, he sought reelection but faced a challenging race against Republican Joe Lombardo, ultimately losing. As of two thousand twenty-six, he remains notable as the last Democrat to have served as governor of Nevada and the only one elected in the twenty-first century.
