Steven Gilborn, born on July fifteenth, nineteen thirty-six, in New Rochelle, New York, was a distinguished American actor and educator. He is best remembered for his role as Harold Morgan, Ellen's father, on the popular sitcom Ellen. Gilborn's academic journey began at Swarthmore College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English, followed by a Ph.D. in dramatic literature from Stanford University in nineteen sixty-nine. His dissertation offered a psychoanalytic perspective on the works of the renowned nineteenth-century French playwright Émile Augier.
Before embarking on his acting career, Gilborn made significant contributions to academia as a professor of humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also served as a faculty adviser to the Gilbert and Sullivan Society and taught at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, Columbia University, and the University of California, Berkeley.
