Steven Lysak

Steven Lysak, born on August seventh, nineteen twelve, was a remarkable American sprint canoeist who made his mark in the late 1940s. Hailing from Newark, New Jersey, he showcased his exceptional talent at the 1948 Summer Olympics held in London.

At these prestigious Games, Lysak partnered with Stephen Macknowski, and together they achieved remarkable success. The duo clinched a gold medal in the C-2 10000 m event and secured a silver medal in the C-2 1000 m event, solidifying their place in Olympic history.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Lysak was also an innovator. He designed and built the canoe that he and Macknowski used during the 1948 Olympics, demonstrating his commitment to the sport and his creative prowess.
