Steven Saylor

Steven Saylor, born on March twenty-third, nineteen fifty-six, is a distinguished American writer renowned for his captivating historical novels. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Saylor's academic background in history and classics profoundly influences his literary work.

His most celebrated creation is the Roma Sub Rosa series, a collection of historical mysteries set in ancient Rome. The series features the astute detective Gordianus the Finder, who navigates the political intrigues of notable figures such as Sulla, Cicero, Julius Caesar, and Cleopatra. In addition to this series, Saylor has penned three epic-length novels—Roma, Empire, and Dominus—each exploring the rich tapestry of Roman history. His works have reached a global audience, being published in twenty-one languages.

Beyond his historical narratives, Saylor has ventured into Texas-themed literature. His novel A Twist at the End, set in Austin during the 1880s, delves into real-life serial murders, while Have You Seen Dawn? is a contemporary thriller inspired by his hometown of Goldthwaite, Texas.

They divide their time between homes in Berkeley, California, and Austin, Texas.
