Storrs L. Olson

Storrs L. Olson, born on April third, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished American biologist and ornithologist whose career has left an indelible mark on the field of avian paleontology. He dedicated a significant portion of his professional life to the Smithsonian Institution, where he served as a curator until his retirement in two thousand eight.

Renowned for his expertise in fossil and subfossil birds, Olson's research primarily focused on islands such as Ascension, St. Helena, and Hawaii. His contributions to the understanding of avian evolution and extinction have positioned him among the foremost experts in his field.

Olson's academic journey began at Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology in nineteen sixty-six.
