Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Suge Knight

Marion Hugh "Suge" Knight Jr., born on April 19, 1965, is a prominent figure in the music industry, best known as the co-founder and former CEO of Death Row Records. His influence was pivotal in the rise of gangsta rap during the 1990s, particularly through the success of landmark albums such as Dr. Dre's The Chronic and Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle, both of which set the stage for the genre's commercial boom.

Before his foray into the music business, Knight showcased his athletic prowess as a defensive end for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and briefly played in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams during the 1987 players' strike. His transition to the music industry was marked by a significant moment in 1995 when he posted a bail of one million four hundred thousand dollars for Tupac Shakur, who was serving time for a sexual abuse conviction, subsequently signing him to Death Row Records.

Under Knight's leadership, Death Row Records released Shakur's iconic album, All Eyez on Me, in 1996. However, the label's fortunes began to wane after the tragic shooting of Shakur in Las Vegas, which also left Knight injured. Following this, key artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg departed from the label, leading to a rapid decline in its success.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Knight faced numerous legal challenges, including multiple incarcerations for assault and violations of probation. His legal troubles culminated in a no contest plea to voluntary manslaughter in 2018 for a fatal hit-and-run incident in 2015, resulting in a twenty-eight-year prison sentence. Knight is currently eligible for parole in October 2034, when he will be sixty-nine years old.
