Sultan bin Salman Al Saud

Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, born on June twenty-seventh, nineteen fifty-six, is a distinguished Saudi prince and a former Royal Saudi Air Force pilot. His remarkable journey into the annals of history began when he flew aboard the American STS-51-G Space Shuttle mission as a payload specialist. This monumental achievement made him the first member of a royal family to venture into space, as well as the first Arab and first Muslim to do so. At the age of twenty-eight, he also earned the title of the youngest individual ever to fly on a space shuttle.

In addition to his groundbreaking spaceflight, Sultan bin Salman has held significant positions within the Saudi government. On December twenty-seventh, two thousand eighteen, he was appointed as the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Commission, a role that comes with the rank of minister.
